Crafted from solid bronze with high-relief chasing , polychrome painted accents, and extensive gold gilding , this is a truly impressive piece. Guanyin stands in a commanding pose atop a double-lotus pedestal, which rests on an octagonal tiered base decorated with scrolling vine motifs. The bodhisattva features multiple tiered heads, including a small Buddha figure at the very top, and numerous arms radiating outward in a dramatic halo, each hand holding various Buddhist implements. The figure is adorned with a painted blue robe, vibrant red flowing ribbons, green accents, and a large, intricate mandorla with a red flame border. The reverse of the mandorla is smooth, showing the casting texture. A substantial and museum-quality display piece.
