This is a first edition of Victor Skrebneski’s Skrebneski Portraits: A Matter of Record, published in 1978. This oversized photography volume presents the celebrated Chicago photographer’s distinctive portraiture of major figures from the worlds of art, fashion, film, music and culture.
Skrebneski was renowned for his sophisticated, highly composed portrait and fashion photography, and this volume features an extraordinary roster of cultural icons, including David Bowie, Audrey Hepburn, Andy Warhol, Diana Ross, Truman Capote, Dennis Hopper and Orson Welles, among others.
The copyright page is clearly marked “First Edition” and dated 1978. The book is also out of print leaving few copies in circulation. The book retains its original white typographic dust jacket as well as the original period bookseller price sticker showing the 1978 retail price of $27.50.
An increasingly difficult-to-find first edition and a wonderful addition to a collection of 20th-century photography, fashion photography, celebrity portraiture, David Bowie or Andy Warhol memorabilia. Its dramatic large-format design also makes it an exceptional vintage coffee-table or library book.
