A pair of ceramic table lamps by Bjørn Wiinblad for Rosenthal, finished in a deep red glaze with blue and yellow decoration to the fronts. The rounded bases have the expressive, slightly theatrical quality that runs through much of Wiinblad’s work, while the matched red shades keep the overall look clean and balanced.
Wiinblad was one of Denmark’s most distinctive postwar designers, known for bringing a more decorative, figurative language to Scandinavian design through ceramics, illustration, and interiors. His work for Rosenthal remains some of his most recognizable production.
Single lamps from the series do appear, but finding a matched pair is considerably less common, especially with this level of visual consistency. Together they have enough presence for a long credenza or console, while still working naturally on a pair of nightstands.
