This piece blends neoclassical detailing with clean mid-century lines. Carved fluted corner blocks frame a molded apron, and slim square legs taper to the floor. A lower shelf gives you extra space for books, magazines or a basket, which makes it practical as a sofa-side table, nightstand or accent piece in an entry.

The rich mahogany-tone finish still has a warm glow, and the top reflects light beautifully. The underside carries the original Mersman branded stamp with model number 25-32, which confirms its maker.

Mersman made furniture for the military during World War II, and in 1963 the company was sold to Congoleum. Its best-known period for pieces like this table from the 1950s and 1960s. See less
