This Large Size & Scale Basket is Rendered in the Classic "Picnic Basket" Style. It Could Also Have Been Use for Any Number of Other Everyday Utilitarian Purposes. It is Completely and Beautifully Hand Made & Hand Woven with Excellent Attention to Detail - Obviously by a Well Seasoned Basket Maker. It is Sturdily Constructed Out of 2 Different Types of Indigenous North American Hardwoods. The Skeleton ( Wide Slats ) Appear to Possibly be Alder that is interwoven with Ash Splint. I Purchased this Basket on One of my Recent Picking Adventures in the Lancaster County Pennsylvania Region. Lancaster County has the Second Largest Amish Population in the United States. I Do have Many Years of Experience Dealing in All Types of American Baskets. I have Studied the Basket Well and in Doing So Based on Where I Purchased, The Style, Fine Workmanship I have Come to the Conclusion that it is in Fact Amish Made. It is in Excellent Original Condition and Displays Beautifully. It is Untouched - Just Exactly as it has Survived Over the Years Condition and has Developed a Wonderful Naturally Age and Use Acquired Patina and Color Giving it that Authentic Look that Cannot be Duplicated!. Imperfections Noted - A Few Areas of Ash Weave Loss.
