A Hollywood Regency green glass ashtray on a marble base is a highly coveted vintage collectible that perfectly captures the glamorous, high-end aesthetic of mid-century tobacciana. These pieces typically feature heavy, faceted or thick-pressed emerald, avocado, or smoky green art glass securely anchored to a polished block or pedestal of genuine marble (often white, black, or matching green onyx)
Ours is emerald green with brass base and white marble. Excellent condition.

Hollywood Regency green glass ashtrays on marble bases were primarily produced from the late 1940s through the 1970s.
Production peaked significantly during the 1950s and 1960s. During this era, smoking was deeply embedded in social entertaining, transforming the humble ashtray into a theatrical, sculptural centerpiece for the home.
The production era can be broken down by its distinct stylistic transitions:
• Late 1940s to 1950s (The Prime Era): This period saw the rise of heavy, ornate designs. Ashtrays featured highly polished marble blocks paired with thick, heavy-cut glass or lead crystal, often imported from Italy or Bohemia. They were heavily accented with ornate cast brass detailing.
• 1960s (The Atomic & Shift Era): Production shifted toward cleaner, slightly more streamlined columns, though still retaining luxury materials. This decade favored deep emerald and avocado greens. It also popularized tall, floor-standing pedestal smoking stands that paired marble bases with dangling crystal prisms and heavy green slag or blown glass bowls. See less
