Japanese wooden fisheries crate, dating from circa 1960, Shōwa period, Japan.
Dimensions: height 12 cm, width 60 cm, depth 36 cm.
The low rectangular crate is constructed from simple wooden planks and has an open top. The wood has a warm, natural colour with clear signs of age and use that reflect its original functional purpose.
The front bears the Japanese inscription 宮城県漁連 (Miyagi-ken Gyoren), referring to the Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives of Miyagi Prefecture. The red number 62 is also present, most likely used as an internal reference or batch number.
Its simple construction and original markings give the crate a strong utilitarian and authentic character. It is in beautiful vintage condition, with visible wear, discolouration and small imperfections consistent with its age and use.
