Viewed from different angles, the individual faces shift into the larger composition, with elongated beards and facial features cleverly serving as the elephant’s trunk, legs, and surrounding anatomy. Deeply carved texturing across the upper portion evokes the wrinkled, leathery appearance of elephant skin and adds to the visual transformation.

Carved from a dense, substantial hardwood with a deep brown finish, the sculpture has an impressive weight and presence for its compact size. It measures approximately 9.25 inches high, 7.75 inches wide, and 5.5 inches deep and weighs 3 lbs. 15 oz. Exact age and origin are unknown, though the piece is estimated to date from the 1960s–1970s.
