The vessel has a warm, naturally aged brass patina with darkened areas and fire-blackening to the underside, consistent with historic hearth use.

The rounded base indicates that the pot was intended to be suspended over a fire rather than sit flat on a surface - perhaps for potions or lucky brews? The bail remains securely attached to the original riveted brass mounts.
