Columns are modeled after the classical architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. Standing over eight feet tall, these columns create a dramatic sense of scale and symmetry. Each column features a tall fluted wooden shaft rising from a molded circular foot and plinth base. The upper portion terminates in an ornate plaster Ionic-style capital, distinguished by its prominent scrolling volutes and carved foliate ornament. The crisp white-painted finish unifies the different materials and emphasizes the strong architectural silhouette. The combination of deeply molded capitals, rhythmic vertical fluting and substantial proportions gives the pair an imposing yet elegant classical presence.
In modern interiors, this pair can be placed symmetrically on either side of a large doorway. console, or fireplace. They would also be ideal in a grand foyer, dining room, library, or gallery particularly in a Neoclassical, Hollywood Regency, Maximalist, or Eclectic Interior. These columns are suitable for exterior use only if on a protected covered porch or terrace. See less
