This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece captures the exuberance of the Jazz Age, presenting a stunning field of rich purple, placing it among our finest examples of purple color rugs. The luxurious wool pile emphasizes the depth and saturation of the dye work, characteristic of the period's high standards.

The design masterfully balances traditional Chinese iconography with the minimalist aesthetic of Art Deco. A central, open field is dramatically framed by cascading vines, butterflies, and stylized blossoms, making it a prime example of floral rugs from the early 20th century. The naturalistic yet bold rendering of the motifs avoids clutter, allowing the vibrant colors—including jade green and ochre yellow—to speak clearly.

Woven with high-quality Chinese wool, this knotted rectangle exhibits the robust construction necessary for lasting beauty. Its generous dimensions classify it as a true room size rug, perfectly suited to anchor a sophisticated living space or formal dining room. The quality of the knotting ensures both durability and a plush underfoot feel, hallmarks of fine Art Deco production.

The border work is particularly striking, featuring a vibrant green scrollwork panel interspersed with stylized chrysanthemums, all set against a bold ochre key-fret frame. This piece represents a significant cross-cultural moment in textile history, offering collectors a superb example among our broader collection of antique rugs. See less
