Historical Provenance & Design Significance: Produced in the 1930s by the legendary Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, this full-figure penguin doorstop (#463) represents quintessential American Art Deco whimsy. Depicting a formal penguin in a top hat, tuxedo cape, and bow tie, it stands as an iconic design within 20th-century figural cast iron art.
Aesthetic Appeal to Interior Designers: Featuring a sleek vertical silhouette, monochrome tuxedo palette, and vibrant yellow accents, this piece adds character to fireplaces, bookshelves, or curated entryways.
Curator’s Note: An exceptional piece of 1930s American decorative ironwork. This dapper gentleman penguin functions as a striking doorstop, sculptural bookend, or desk accent. Its Art Deco geometry and clean painted finish make it an immediate conversation piece in high-end eclectic or traditional interiors.
