An authentic antique deer hoof ashtray, crafted from a preserved hoof and finished with a silverplate rim and curved oval cigarette rest. These early‑20th‑century curiosities were traditionally made as gentleman’s desk accessories or smoking‑room novelties, often given as gifts to hunters, outdoorsmen, or military officers.

This example features a natural deer coat, a tapered cloven hoof with visible growth rings, and a bright silverplate cigarette rest designed to hold a single cigarette. The metalwork shows a warm, age‑appropriate patina that complements the organic texture of the hoof. The silverplate rim and cigarette rest suggest manufacture in Birmingham or Sheffield, both major centers for silverplate and novelty metalwork.
