The figure is composed of two stones, with the base permanently affixed long ago. The Buddha's expression is serene and its proportions are graceful, and the piece measures 7.25 inches high, 3.25 inches wide, and 1.5 inches deep.

An old break has been reset, and the repair was already in place when we found the piece. The surface is aged and gently worn, and the sculpture is lovingly used.

Discovered at an estate auction on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, alongside several other Buddha sculptures, this piece appears to have come from a collection of Buddhist art.

It will be at home in a meditation space or on an altar, and will appeal to collectors of Buddhist art and antiquities and to anyone seeking a meaningful centerpiece that brings tranquility to a room. Its gentle wear and old repair are part of its honest, quiet character.

Lovingly used, with a softly aged surface and an old break that was reset before we found it.
