This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece showcases the bold aesthetic of the era, utilizing a deep, saturated indigo field. The central expanse provides a striking backdrop for the sparse, stylized motifs, emphasizing the richness of the blue color rugs palette favored during the early 20th century.

Hand-knotted from luxurious wool, the texture of this rug exhibits a soft sheen typical of high-quality Chinese production from the 1920s. Its substantial dimensions qualify it among the desirable room size rugs, designed to anchor a major living space or dining area. The generous scale allows the subtle landscape vignette in the lower corner to breathe within the vast, open composition.

A dramatic, wide border in a rich, oxidized rose or cranberry hue frames the deep blue field, creating a powerful contrast. This frame is adorned with delicate, trailing vines and scattered blossoms, distinguishing it from purely geometric Art Deco designs and placing it within the tradition of sophisticated floral rugs. The motifs are rendered with a graceful, asymmetrical placement characteristic of Chinese decorative arts.

This piece represents a pivotal moment in textile history, blending traditional Chinese craftsmanship with the modern sensibilities of the West. Preserved in remarkable condition for its age, this Art Deco masterpiece is a valuable addition to any collection of fine antique rugs, offering both historical depth and unparalleled visual impact.
