This unique piece perfectly embodies the aesthetic language of the Art Deco period, a time when design sought to move away from excessive ornamentation to embrace geometric purity, the interplay of volumes, and the intrinsic beauty of materials.

The design is anchored by a solid, light-colored wooden base that reveals a beautiful natural grain. A slender central rail runs along this surface—an ingenious functional feature that allows the position of the stops to be adjusted according to the number and thickness of the books.

The visual richness of the piece lies in its sliding stops. These elements feature an attractive semi-circular shape and are crafted from different types of wood, creating a subtle, sophisticated color contrast that ranges from warm tones to dark, almost ebonized finishes. One of the stops consists of three stacked pieces of decreasing size—a clear nod to the classic stepped architectural style frequently seen in the decorative arts of the 1930s.

It remains in good original condition, displaying a beautiful patina. This piece will not only serve its practical purpose of keeping books organized but will also add an undeniable touch of distinction and historic elegance to any office, library, or contemporary bookshelf. See less
