Set of 12 newly framed herbariums from 1893-1895.
Framing is new Larson-Juhl solid oak from Italy, folios are mounted to archival quality board under UV-protective and anti-glare glazing, descriptive specimen notes in their meticulous quill in ink penmanship pasted to verso for provenance.
Compiled in Georgia, collections of plant specimens, pressed, dried and carefully placed into folio pages called a herbarium became a popular past-time for young botanists, particularly younger women enthusiasts for whom career or practical scientific study wasn't likely an option.
Note that these are actual plant specimens and each is unique.
