The silver-plated frame is marked Rogers, Smith & Co., Quadruple Plate and dates to the late 19th century.

This substantial 12.5-inch castor has a tall stationary frame with decorative floral and foliate details, a fixed arched handle, ornate supports, and a raised pedestal base. The clear pressed glass insert features three oval country scenes, each depicting a different landscape or architectural setting, surrounded by molded ornamental decoration.

The castor measures approximately 12.5 inches tall and includes the glass insert, silver-plated lid, frame, and serving tongs. I have not been able to verify that every component is original to the set, so I am not representing the complete assembly as entirely original.

Rogers, Smith & Co. was a prominent American silver-plating firm associated with Meriden, Connecticut, producing silver-plated tableware and hollowware during the Victorian period. The company operated as a separate firm during the late 19th century before becoming part of International Silver.
