Made by James W. Tufts of Boston, Massachusetts, the castor is marked "James W. Tufts Boston Warranted Quadruple Plate No. 3614." The tall silver-plated frame has a decorative Victorian design with floral and scrollwork details, an elevated handle, and a raised four-foot base.

The clear pressed glass liner features three oval figural medallions depicting a woman with a winged child, surrounded by additional molded ornamental decoration. The castor measures approximately 12.5 inches high.
