This exceptional piece exemplifies the restrained elegance of early 20th-century Chinese weaving. Its generous dimensions classify it as a true room size format, ideal for anchoring a sophisticated living space or formal dining area.

The composition features a strikingly dark, almost black, field that provides a dramatic contrast to the surrounding border elements. The primary accent color, a muted, sophisticated Chinese blue, defines the broad outer guard band and highlights the delicate vine work, lending the piece a tranquil yet authoritative presence.

Characteristic of the Peking style from this period, the design relies on open space and carefully placed ornamentation rather than dense all-over patterning. The central medallion and the corner spandrels feature highly articulated, stylized floral elements, rendered with precise line work that emphasizes their graphic quality.

Woven from high-quality wool, this rug retains its luxurious pile and rich saturation, a testament to the enduring craftsmanship of the 1930s. As a magnificent example of period Chinese textiles, it joins our curated collection of fine antique rugs that define timeless interior design See less
