This exquisite piece represents the finest tradition of early 20th-century weaving, characterized by its luxurious wool pile and refined aesthetic. Its superior construction places it firmly among desirable antique rugs sought by discerning collectors.

The central field is dominated by a rich, saturated indigo, making it a striking example of blue color rugs. This deep hue provides a dramatic, velvety ground for the sparse, elegant gold motifs—likely stylized dragons or auspicious symbols—that float within the expansive space, emphasizing negative space over dense pattern.

Designed specifically for transitional spaces, the narrow, elongated format defines this textile as a classic room size rug (4.02ft x 8.09ft). The dark outer border, almost black, is adorned with delicate, naturalistic floral sprays and butterflies, rendered in subtle blues and creams, a signature element of the refined style associated with peking rugs from this era.

Hand-knotted in the northern region of Chinese rugs, this textile showcases the superior quality wool and sophisticated aesthetic restraint characteristic of the period. The subtle abrash and high knot density ensure both historical value and enduring decorative appeal, making it a powerful statement piece for a contemporary or traditional interior. See less
