The composition depicts four leafless deciduous trees arranged across an expansive pale landscape, with three trees grouped together and a fourth positioned distinctly apart.

The restrained composition is built around fine linear rendering, sparse tonal variation and extensive negative space. Bare branches are articulated against a near-monochromatic ground, while a faint horizon provides minimal spatial definition without interrupting the broad open field.
