A beautifully crafted miniature Chinese cricket cage, likely made of Huali (rosewood). The piece is cylindrical, tapering into a tiered, pagoda-like shape with vertical bars and solid wood bands. It could be used to house a cricket or as a decorative hand piece (wenwan) to be carried and admired. A sophisticated and tactile collectible piece for a scholar's desk or display.
