A beautifully crafted long Chinese wooden box, likely made of Huali (rosewood), designed for storing scrolls or calligraphy. The box features a sliding lid with delicate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay along the edges. The top surface is exquisitely carved in relief with a traditional "Pomegranate and Bats" motif, symbolizing abundance and blessings, set against a scrolling vine ground. The box is constructed with traditional joinery and opens to reveal a spacious, unlined interior. A sophisticated piece for a scholar's desk or as a decorative object.
