A beautifully crafted set of two Chinese hardwood nesting boxes, likely made of Huali (rosewood). Each box features a hinged lid fitted with brass hardware and side carrying handles. The tops are exquisitely decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay, depicting a lively scene of birds perched amongst blossoming plum branches, framed by delicate inlaid floral borders. The lids open to reveal spacious, unlined interiors. A sophisticated set of storage boxes for jewelry, seals, or other small treasures.
