The surface is a richly worked composition of incised pattern and glaze. A central oval panel of concentric bands, each filled with fine, feather-like herringbone incisions, spirals inward like a leaf or a sliced agate, glazed in shifting tones of teal, sea-green, and deep forest green that pool darker in the grooves. Around it, the ground is engraved with rhythmic wave lines that ripple across the tray and catch the light in a shimmering, metallic-looking cream and pewter. At the outer ends, bold Memphis-style motifs break the calm: a jagged zigzag in mauve at one corner, a curling purple spiral at the other, stepped black and charcoal blocks, and stylized leafy fronds, blended with soft airbrushed passages of sky blue and gray.
