The artwork here, "Island Plate (I.4; SFE.1H)", is a wonderful depiction of an abstract scene, that was created with acute detail throughout, making it one of the nicest pieces by Francis we have ever made available. Also, measuring approximately 40” x 46 ½” (archival matted to 39” x 45”) and 48” x 53” with the high-quality frame, the immaculate artwork is of impressive craftsmanship and size, one of his largest. Finally, it has remained in excellent condition since being published by 2RC Edizioni d’Arte, Rome, it is signed in the lower right corner, numbered Artist Proof 8 of 8. The artwork is referenced in Sam Francis: Catalogue Raisonné of Canvas and Panel Paintings (Reference #:I.4; SFE.1H) and comes with a Gallery Letter of Authenticity.
