A beautifully crafted Chinese table screen (pingfeng), likely made of Huali (rosewood). The piece features a circular plaque resting on an intricately carved, openwork stand with scrolled feet. The plaque is exquisitely decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay, depicting a lively scene of birds perched amongst blossoming plum branches, accompanied by silver-inlaid calligraphy reading "喜上眉梢" (Happiness on the Eyebrows), a traditional symbol of joyful tidings. A sophisticated and elegant piece for a scholar's desk or as a decorative object.
