A beautifully crafted Chinese hardwood box, likely made of Huali (rosewood). This square box features a clever sliding puzzle mechanism rather than traditional hinges or latches. The lid panel slides open to reveal a spacious, unlined interior, making it an ideal and intriguing storage box for jewelry, tea, or scholar's objects. The wood shows a rich grain and a smooth finish.
