The chair features a ribbed sling-style seat suspended between a pair of molded plywood frames. The gently curving side pieces flow continuously from the backrest into the base, while the open arms use the same molded construction.

Tendo Mokko was among the early pioneers of molded plywood production in Japan, and the Heron chair is a good example of how the company used the technique to create furniture that was both visually light and structurally durable. This particular example remains structurally sound after roughly sixty years of use, with no repairs or reinforcement required.

The chair has been completely restored, with new boucle upholstery and a fully refinished frame in a dark walnut tone.

This chair is unmarked. From the build and dimensions it is unmistakably an authentic Heron chair. See less
