Charming 19th-century French School graphite drawing depicting a group of rustic houses set within a rocky landscape.
Finely executed in pencil on paper, the composition focuses on a cluster of traditional buildings with tiled roofs, irregular stone walls and small architectural details carefully rendered through delicate line work and subtle shading.
The houses rise above a rocky foreground crossed by what appears to be a small stone bridge or passage, giving the scene an intimate and picturesque character. The architecture and landscape evoke the rural regions of southern France, although the precise location has not been identified.
The drawing was catalogued at auction as 19th-century French School.
Presented under glass in a later simple black frame with a wide light-colored mat.
The paper shows age-related toning, scattered foxing and minor spotting, particularly visible in the lighter areas of the sky. These traces are consistent with the age of the work and contribute to its authentic antique character. The drawing itself remains clear and finely detailed. Please refer to the photographs for a complete assessment of condition.
An attractive original architectural drawing, ideal for a gallery wall, study, library or French-inspired interior.
