The substantial sculptural backplate is richly ornamented with a dramatic palmette crest, scrolling foliate elements, floral swags and a pendant finial. Three gracefully curved, leaf-decorated candle arms extend from the central body, each terminating in a petal-form bobeche and embossed floral candle cup.

The bronze has developed a beautiful warm brown-gold patina with areas of darker oxidation and small traces of natural verdigris. The reverse retains its old iron hanging ring, unfinished cast surface and what appear to be period casting or assembly numbers.

A particularly decorative example with wonderful depth and architectural presence despite its relatively compact scale. Beautiful displayed alone as a sculptural wall accent or incorporated into a collected gallery wall.

This piece remains configured as a traditional candle sconce and has not been electrified.
