A classic Frederick Cooper Chicago table lamp in the form of an antique tea canister, c. 1960s–70s. All four sides feature incised, hand-painted panels in gold, rust and moss-green:
• A songbird in bamboo
• A bird among flowering prunus branches
• An orchid in a jardinière
• Chrysanthemums with a butterfly
The mottled, aged-gilt finish gives it real depth and warmth. The lamp sits on a shaped black lacquered wood base and is topped with a wooden egg finial.
It comes with its original silk shantung drum shade, trimmed in rust velvet cord and gold gimp.
Maker's marks: "Frederick Cooper Lamps Chicago" label on the socket; harp stamped "F. Cooper."
