Elegant matched pair of French five-light candelabra featuring richly colored cobalt-blue porcelain bodies decorated with hand-painted polychrome floral bouquets within white and gilt cartouches.
Each candelabrum is fitted with an elaborate gilt-metal framework composed of scrolling foliate branches, acanthus details and five graduated candle cups. The porcelain bodies have graceful baluster forms and are further embellished with gilt detailing, creating a striking contrast against the deep French blue ground.
The undersides are marked “HAND PAINTED FRANCE” together with a decorator or manufacturer’s monogram. Ornate gilt-metal bases complete the substantial, highly decorative presentation.
A beautiful statement pair for a mantel, console, dining room, entryway or formal interior. Their strong cobalt blue, floral decoration and sculptural gilt work lend themselves especially well to French Provincial, Louis XV, Rococo Revival, Hollywood Regency and traditional interiors.
