Setting the theme, the upper portion features stylized letters spelling out ALLEGRO, a musical term indicating a quick, lively tempo.

It depicts an energetic, whimsical orchestra scene complete with a conductor, a horn player, a double bassist, a drummer and a flutist. The sharp, caricatured expressions of the male musicians and the abstract, round shapes of the instruments (like the bright red cello and oversized horn) are cheekily contrasted with a classically posed female nude viewed from behind while playing the violin—adding a surreal, playful contrast to the fully dressed male musicians around her.

Signature/Maker’s Mark: Indecipherable (photos #7, 8). Unmatted dimensions: 10.5 inches high x 8.5 inches wide. See less
