c. 1930s-1940s; Heatilator Co. - Syracuse, NY
Architectural aluminum salesman's model demonstrating the patented Heatilator fireplace system, produced to show builders and architects how the company's multi-wall, air-circulating firebox improved heating efficiency in early 20th-century homes.
Founded in 1927, Heatilator quickly became one of the most influential names in American residential fireplace design, pioneering factory-built fireboxes and convection-based circulation long before modern HVAC integration.
This hinged, sectional model opens to reveal the internal baffling and chamber design that distinguished the Heatilator system. Cast and fabricated in aluminum with small brass hinges, it captures the geometry of the full-size unit in compact form-from the tapering hood to the internal convection channels. A raised maker's panel on the reverse reads "HEATILATOR FIREPLACE / HEATILATOR CO. / NEW YORK / PATS. PEND."
