Textiles of this quality were important components of sophisticated European interiors, where woven fabrics were used for decorative hangings, furnishings, upholstery, and other interior applications. The surviving historic textile has subsequently been adapted into a long rectangular decorative pillow, allowing the original material and craftsmanship to remain visible and usable centuries after its creation.

The textile displays a richly organized floral and scrolling botanical composition. Large stylized blossoms and clustered flowers are connected by curling stems, leaves, and scrolling forms that move across the surface. Particularly distinctive are the areas of pink-and-cream patterned ground bordered by turquoise scrolling lines, which contrast with the softer neutral passages through the center. The palette has mellowed considerably with age and now combines antique gold, mustard yellow, cream, beige, camel, taupe, muted pink, burgundy, turquoise, pale blue-green, brown, and touches of olive.

The close photographs reveal the character of an authentically aged textile rather than a modern reproduction: the weave varies across the surface, sections of the original structure are exposed, and surviving areas of the floral pattern retain substantial texture and definition.
