This wonderfully whimsical hand-painted centerpiece features a woven basket-form base overflowing with dimensional fruit, including four bananas, apples, lemons, grapes, and a bright red fruit, accented by sculpted green leaves and a raised basket handle.

The glossy, richly colored finish and highly dimensional modeling give the piece a wonderful vintage still-life quality. The basket-weave texture, abundant fruit, and saturated colors make it an especially fun statement piece for a kitchen, dining room, breakfast nook, or collected vintage display.

The underside is marked with the Arnart-style crown/A mark and pattern number 22/342.

A fantastic example of the playful, highly dimensional ceramic decorative wares produced for the American market during the mid-century period.
