This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving hails from the renowned Peking workshops. Its commanding presence is defined by a saturated, deep indigo field, placing it among the most desirable blue color rugs of the period.

As a true room size rug, this piece offers monumental scale suitable for grand interiors, anchoring a living space with its rich texture and depth. The luxurious wool pile, characteristic of fine Chinese production, retains a soft sheen that subtly shifts with the light, enhancing the rug's overall visual depth.

The design is characterized by a sophisticated interplay of tone-on-tone elements and contrasting accents. The main field features a dense, scrolling vine and leaf motif that functions as an allover rug pattern, providing textural complexity without visual clutter. This serves as a dramatic backdrop for the delicate, pale yellow floral sprays that frame the central space.

Reflecting the refined aesthetic of the 1920s, this Peking piece balances traditional Chinese iconography with a modern sensibility for color saturation. It is a superb, well-preserved example of antique rugs that offers both historical provenance and enduring decorative appeal for the discerning collector. See less
