This exceptional piece exemplifies the restrained elegance of early 20th-century Chinese weaving. The Peking style, known for its minimal composition and luxurious wool pile, offers a sophisticated aesthetic highly sought after among collectors of antique rugs.

Hand-knotted from fine wool, the central field is dominated by a rich, saturated indigo, providing a dramatic contrast to the narrow, sun-bleached gold inner frame. This profound use of color establishes a commanding presence, making it a definitive example within the category of blue color rugs.

Designed specifically for transitional spaces, this rectangular format functions perfectly as a hallway runner rug, guiding the eye and defining the architecture of a long corridor or entryway. Its dimensions (5.06ft x 11.03ft) and durable construction ensure it remains suitable for high-traffic areas while retaining its historical integrity.

The design eschews a central medallion, instead featuring delicate, naturalistic vignettes nestled within the dark border. Subtle representations of birds, pine branches, and scattered blossoms define the corners, showcasing the refined use of floral rugs motifs typical of the Peking workshops during this period. This runner is a timeless statement of East Asian artistry. See less
