A wonderfully whimsical hand-painted wall mirror by artist Wendy McKinney, signed and dated 1998. The sculptural wood frame is painted in vibrant shades of turquoise, pink, yellow, black and white with an exuberant mix of spirals, dots and geometric patterns.
The real star is the dimensional fish perched across the top of the mirror, hand painted in coordinating black, white and pink with a sculptural tail and applied eye.
This is one of those pieces that refuses to take itself too seriously. Bold, playful and wonderfully eccentric, it has a distinctly coastal folk-art quality that would be fantastic in a beach house, powder room, child’s room or anywhere that could use a little personality.
Original mirror glass remains intact. Signed “Wendy McKinney © ’98” on the lower right.
