This exceptional example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving presents a luxurious deep indigo field, characteristic of the refined Peking style. Its substantial dimensions classify it as a true room size piece, ideal for anchoring a major living space or dining area with historical elegance.

The primary field is rendered in a saturated, velvety blue color, providing a dramatic contrast to the pale saffron and soft teal accents found in the borders. This specific shade of blue was highly favored during the Art Deco period, lending the rug a sophisticated, yet calming, visual depth that complements both traditional and modern interiors.

The design employs a sparse, elegant composition, featuring a delicate central medallion surrounded by gracefully scattered sprigs. The outer border utilizes stylized scrolling vines and stylized blossoms, creating a compelling example of early 20th-century floral rugs that balance traditional Chinese iconography with streamlined Deco aesthetics.

Knotted in thick, high-quality wool, this piece retains the exceptional handle and luster expected of fine Chinese textiles from this era. It is a striking and well-preserved example, representing a superb acquisition for collectors seeking authentic antique rugs with proven provenance and enduring decorative appeal. See less
