Created over many … Read more A wonderfully unique vintage resin planter completely covered by hand in an incredible assortment of natural seashells. Created over many years by a passionate Florida shell collector, the planter features hundreds of shells in varying sizes, colors and species, individually applied in dense decorative bands and patterns.

Large scallop shells encircle the upper rim while smaller shells create intricate layers throughout, accented by larger conch and spiral shells. Even the lower edge is finished in shellwork there was apparently no such thing as “enough shells.”

This is not professionally produced shellwork, and that is very much part of its charm. The piece has the wonderfully personal, collected quality of old Florida folk art and is completely one of a kind.

The underlying planter is resin with a terracotta-colored interior base/drainage area. It works beautifully as a functional planter or simply as a sculptural decorative object in an Old Florida, coastal, tropical or eclectic interior.
