Ron Gaskill (American 1951 - 2009) - was a noted wood carver/artist who also supported disabled American veterans with personalized canes, and with Christmas holiday Santas, tree spirits, and unique character figures "Capt. Irv" is an Original Signed/Dated Wood Sculpture that Ron Gaskill made in 2001. It is an excellent and very enjoyable figure with an interesting "extra" that the artist added that I have not figured out - there is a fine short chain that drops from each side about the area of the ears. Could it be a chain to hold the glasses when they are not worn? It's a bit short to use for hanging, although that's a possibility with the correct hook. A fascinating extra!
