Made of heavy-gauge steel, it was designed to sit inside an actual water closet (not under the bed), and with a recessed lid to avoid water splashes while carrying the pail outside to empty and clean. Over the span of 100+ years, most of the lids disappeared, making this a rare find!
In very clean condition, there is minimal chipping to the enamel, the handle is secured to steel T arms on the side of the pail. It measures 12" in diameter and stands 6.75"T.
The base is marked with the standard lion and the letter B, but this has "Prima Qualitat" written beneath it, indicating this was not meant for export, but was of the highest quality for the European market. See less
