I believe from the research I've done that this is a rare Gateleg table made by Kittinger CW74 for Colonial … Read more I believe from the research I've done that this is a rare Gateleg table made by Kittinger CW74 for Colonial Williamsburg. From what I've read it was made in the late 1930's and for probably not more than a year with an estimated production of less than 50 examples. The original table that this is copied from was made in New York and was originally used as the dining table in the Governors Palace at Williamsburg. Table is now located in the George Wythe house in Williamsburg. Table is a 6 leg swing leg with 4 stationary legs on the ends and a single swing leg to support the dropleaves when they are open. Beautifully formed cabriole legs ending in carved ball and claw feet and with shell carvings on the knees and on the shaped skirt. Table is 52" long and roughly 21" wide with the leaves down Open the top is 52" by 67" and the table stands 29" tall which is standard dining table height. The second photo shows the actual color of the table best. There are a couple of dings and scuffs here and there but this table never saw hard use in my opinion. The seam of the 2 top boards is slightly raised. Very good condition consistent with use and age. A fine quality table with a multitude of uses. See less
