A wonderfully decorative pollard oak and mahogany tripod occasional table, the exceptionally figured top formed as an eight-petalled flower and edged with a finely moulded raised gallery. The richly figured pollard oak displays a particularly attractive swirling burr-like grain, supported upon a finely turned baluster column and elegant downswept tripod base. Of particular note is the traditional birdcage mechanism, allowing the top to revolve and tilt, a construction closely associated with fine Georgian tripod and tea tables of the 18th century and designs popularised by Thomas Chippendale. A charming and rather unusual interpretation of the classic Georgian tripod table, distinguished by the superb figuring of the timber and its delightful flower-shaped top. Condition wise we have deep cleaned, hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, there will be some age and use related patina marks based on normal use and transport
