A touch of the Roaring Twenties pervades this charming oval plaster wall medallion, crafted in the pure Art Deco style of the 1920s and 30s. In delicate bas-relief, a young nude woman is depicted seated, her head gracefully turned towards the viewer in a pose that is both sensual and restrained, a subtle echo of artists' studios between the two World Wars.
The background beautifully highlights the flesh-toned modeled figure, with its meticulous painted details: red lips, finely drawn eyebrows. A true little painting, dedicated by the artist to\. Mrs. Schneider.
The plaster is antique, dating from the 1930s. It is in excellent condition, and the paint has a lovely patina. The incised inscription "To Mrs. Schneider" testifies to the personalized nature of the piece, a gift or dedication to this recipient by the artist. A hanging loop on the back allows for immediate display.
