Extremely well-constructed and substantial in weight, the cabinet combines a restrained, minimalist exterior with a uniquely elaborate fitted interior. Its clean lines and simple geometric form give it a striking, sculptural presence. The tall rectangular case is raised on short squared legs with brass-capped feet, while three folding doors create a nearly uninterrupted façade accented only by full-height brass piano hinges.

Opening the three doors reveals an extensively fitted interior designed for clothing and personal storage. The left side contains eight drawers with small brass pulls, while the right side incorporates one fixed wood shelf and ten removable glass shelves allowing for an adjustable configuration. The use of glass on the interior gives an added touch of refinement and the folding door format and compact footprint provide considerable storage without the width of a conventional dresser. Originally intended for the bedroom, the versatile design also lends itself for use as general storage, linen cabinet, media cabinet or bar cabinet. Original metal manufacturer’s label to the drawer interior reads: “Furniture designed by Harvey Probber, Fall River, Massachusetts.”
