This piece depicts a heartwarming scene of maternal love: a mother monkey with her baby, resting on a rocky outcrop adorned with ripe peaches.

Exquisite Craftsmanship & Details:

Lifelike Textures: The hallmark of Shiwan pottery is its ability to capture lifelike textures. Note the incredibly detailed, flowing fur of the monkeys, which is deeply carved and highlighted with a warm, brownish-grey glaze. Their expressive faces and postures—the mother protectively shielding her eyes while looking down, and the baby reaching up—are incredibly endearing.

Symbolic Elements: The sculpture is decorated with vibrant, glossy red peaches and green leaves. In Chinese culture, peaches symbolize longevity and immortality. The combination of monkeys and peaches is a classic motif known as "Ling Hou Xian Shou" (Monkeys Offering Longevity), making this a highly auspicious piece.

Rich Glaze & Base: The rocky base is glazed in earthy, mottled tones of brown and gold, simulating natural stone and providing a beautiful contrast to the smooth, colorful peaches and textured fur.

Impressive Scale: Standing at 12 inches tall, this is a substantial statement piece perfect for a console table, bookshelf, or mantel display. See less
